Sub-inspector Sekendar Hossain and Assistant Sub-inspector Majharul Islam were remanded for six days in police custody, said Saturia Police OC Aminul Islam.
Judicial Magistrate Golam Sarwar gave the order on Tuesday.
They were accused in a case filed by a young woman from Mirzaganj Upazila in Patuakhali on Monday. She lives with her father in Ashulia.
She allegedly came under attack after she accompanied a neighbour to a meeting with the policemen during last week’s Wednesday.
Her neighbour, a woman, came to know SI Sekendar when he was working in Ashulia, according to the case details. Based on their acquaintance, she loaned him Tk 100,000 for a land business five to six years ago.
After Sekendar sold the land, he owed her Tk 300,000 including dividends. The woman would visit Sekendar in Saturia Police Station often in order to get her dues.
On Wednesday, the alleged victim accompanied her neighbour to meet SI Sekendar at Saturia Police Station. The two were escorted to the nearby Union Council bungalow.
Sekendar was discussing the money sitting in a room of the bungalow, when ASI Mazharul appeared. The victim said she was dragged to a room of the bungalow by the policemen.
“The two officials then smoked yaba in the room and forced her to have the illegal drug. The victim was feeling ill after having yaba. The policemen then raped her multiple times, keeping her captive until Friday morning.”
The two were withdrawn from the police station and sent back to the police lines based on an unofficial complaint, said Superintendent of Police Rifat Rahman.
“The victim then submitted a written complaint to me on Sunday,” SP Rifat. A two-member committee has been formed to investigate the complaint, he said.
The probe committee members are Additional Superintendent of Police Hafizur Rahman and Additional Superintendent of Police Hamidur Rahman Siddiki of the District Special Branch.
Police have already found her claims to be legitimate based on findings of a preliminary probe, said ASP Hafizur.
A team of four doctors ran tests on the woman at District Sadar Hospital, said resident doctor Lutfur Rahman. The medical team is due to submit their report in the next two to three days, he said.
