Making his mark with the short film Life in Other Words and telefilm Koli 2.0, Abrar Athar quickly rose to fame with his storytelling prowess, bringing original ideas to the fore. We caught up with the writer-director for a quick round of One Minute Please!

A television/web series you’re currently watching?

I just finished watching Black Mirror’s interactive film on Netflix, Bandersnatch. I found it to be a great gimmick.

A film you could watch time and again?

Taxi Driver.

Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Christian Bale and Tom Hardy.

Favourite director(s)?

Martin Scorsese and Danny Boyle.

If you had to pursue a career outside of the media industry, what would you choose?

I’d either be a chef or a model. I’d probably be a horrible model, but a great chef.

What is your ultimate directorial dream?

I want to make something that lives beyond my years. Material success isn’t something that appeals to me.

What is your go-to comfort food?

Indian food.
